Entry for: The Sacramento Rescue & Restore Victims of Human Trafficking Coalition
Show date: January 2011
My entry for an upcoming show to call attention to the various forms of human trafficking around the world and within the region. Mine is based off of the idea of prostitution and how in many cases children are involved. I'm really happy with how if came out, though my scanner screwed up the colors just a little. Other then that I like the feeling of the piece.
Woman in birdcage - A beautiful woman seemingly lively in the shadows though with the light outside of the cage shows how pale she truly is. So sickly from her life, her eyes peer out the door of the cage with hope of trying to escape her life in the shadows.
Doll and doll head - Normally a symbol of childhood innocence, these images are more of innocence lost. A beautiful doll dressed in its fine little dress waiting for someone to play with it. A doll head remains unfinished and seemingly vacant with the absence of eyes.
Flowers - Though beautiful, even they wilt and dry up over time but even more quickly when left unattended. But with some care, growth springs forth again.
