Royal Elegance by DawnstarW Royal Elegance by DawnstarW
Finally finished my battle on the feathers and happy with how they came out. Unfortunately my scanner decided to be evil and make all of the colors look muddy which upsets me. Oh well at least I was able to finish this way before the due date.

Materials Used:
watercolors
watercolor paper (9x12 inches)

As of Feb. 2nd, 2013 - For those who are wondering, this is available this month at Blue Moon Gallery 2353 Albatross Way Sacramento, CA 95815. Go ahead and check out the website: bluemoongallerysacto.com/ or follow us on Facebook: www.facebook.com/pages/BlueMoo…

Peacocks are one of my favourite animals and you really did well on this one! I love it. The colours are wonderful together and the background is great contrast for the bird! I like it, and think you did a swell job on it. :) thank you for shaing!

This is gorgeous. I've recently learned how a scanner can drain the colors, so I know the original must be gorgeous. How did you choose the background? Is it wallpaper? Very pretty.

I have a folder on my computer where I save imaged of various fabric and paper patterns. I believe the background is from some French fabric I had spotted online.

What a great idea! I should start collecting such patterns.

It's a really great way to have references to patterns if you're trying to do a design on outfits or backgrounds so you have something that looks like wallpaper.

Nice!
About the scanner thing, don't you have any software to re-adjust the colors?

Thanks, glad that you enjoyed it. As far as the software.. unfortunately no. I'm pretty much broke on a constant basis so any pieces I'm able to sell, the money goes straight to more supplies and food right now. I've been looking into trying to locate a scanner that has a larger bed then 9x12 inches but the only ones I've been able to find are usually the more industrial sized ones. Folks have also suggested a couple of different programs but it seems that it depends on personal preference.

You can get image editing software for free. And most people already have such software on their computer and don't even know they have it. Irfanview, which is basically a Free image viewer, has some basic image editing tools.
