Description
Entry For: Delta Center for the Arts
Show: The Art of Jazz
I've already mailed it off to the gallery which is having the call for artists. They were asking for work for an exhibition they were planning for 2013 which "will present works that demonstrate the celebration and inspiration of the improvisational characteristics of Jazz - its distinct sound, history, and culture". For some reason I found myself doing Glenn Miller based off of a photo I found of him before he was drafted into the military and went MIA. The color scheme is based off of vintage posters that was used for him and many other jazz musicians back in the 1930s. For some reason I decided that I would add with him a 1939 Ford v8 Deluxe. I would have done his car if there was one that he had but I couldn't find any information on it.
Keeping my fingers crossed hoping that I get accepted but I'll keep everyone updated anyways.
Materials Used:
watercolors
watercolor paper (8x10 inches)
Glenn Miller info [link]
EDIT: November 15, 2012 - well just found out that I wasn't picked to participate. This is the message I received:
Dear Ms. Wood,
Thank you for submitting your work for review for The Art of Jazz exhibition. We have finished with the call for entries selection process, and have selected other artworks for the exhibition. We greatly appreciate your work and interest in the exhibition.
Best regards
